You may need to reinstall the actual software from Intel - listed under Ethernet Controllers here:
Save it to a USB stick or similar so you can transfer it to the machine without the connectivity.
It's been a while since I used XP as my main OS (now only have it in a virtual machine) but I recall having many an issue with connectivity and usually installing just a driver wasn't sufficient, you have to install the whole software package.

Well we don't usually close threads unless people spam them or otherwise make themselves unpopular. but post back if not successful and then we'll work from there.
Technical Support is probably your best bet if it doesn't work.
