Please post the exact version of VirusScan that is installed. If you have the "M" in Systray, near the PC clock then right click on it and on VirusScan | About. Next you'll see a windows with three version #: 1. program itself, 2. Virus Definitions, 3. Scan Engine.
Which version of Windows are you on? Go to Start > right click "My Computer" and choose "Properties" from the shortcut menu. On the "General" tab you'll find all the info. Including any SPs (Service Packs).
Try scan in Safe Mode:
Windows'98: How to Start a Windows 98-Based Computer in Safe Mode
Windows 2K: Description of Safe Boot Mode in Windows 2000
Windows XP: A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP
Try to run the full online scan at: Windows Live Safety Center. It might take some time and you need to disable any popup blocking software for this site. Also disable VirusScan when this scan is running.
Please download DDS and save it to your desktop.
* Disable any script blocking protection
* Double click dds.scr to run the tool.
* When done, DDS.txt will open.
* Click Yes at the next prompt for Optional Scan.
* Save both reports to your desktop.
Please include the contents of the following in your next reply:
Attach the following report to your post by clicking the Manage Attachments button under Additonal Options>Attach Files on the composition page. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Upload.
