I am not sure but I think WKS for workstation and SRV for servers.
Right, but it's not my question
When I look at the console, some workstations ars in version 22.214.171.1245 or 126.96.36.1995.WKS or 188.8.131.525.SRV
Workstation are in 184.108.40.2065.WKS
Servers are in 220.127.116.115.SRV
Others are in 18.104.22.1685 only, with no suffix
I don't know why the suffix appears.
Some workstations or servers are upgraded from 22.214.171.1249 to 126.96.36.1995.
All my clients have either WKS or SRV, none have no suffix within ePO. It's always been like this as far back as VSE 8.5
Basically the agent will identify and label the client based on the OS installed e.g XP/Vista/7 are WKS and likewise 2003/2003r2/2008/2008r2 server OSes are identified as SRV.
I can only assume that your 'no suffix' clients are not being correctly identified.
Do you manage Mac, Linux or maybe Win8 machines within your ePO?
The latest hotfix removes the WKS and SRV from the end of the VSE version number. It wasnt really needed, no other products do this.
mine are slowly vanishing as the hotfix gets rolled out.
I manage Linux and Mac.
I have an "Evaluation Branch" with :
Agent 4.6 P3
VSE 8.8 P2
HIPS 8.0 P2
When I move the workstation in this collection, upgrade is launch and the inventory in EPO change : 188.8.131.527.wks to 184.108.40.2065 (no suffix)
You talk about Hotfix 820636 ?
thats the one. Check the release notes to make sure. I am sure it mentioned the removal of WKS and SRV
I have checked the KB and McAfee indicate that WKS and SRV are removed.
