I received a trial version of McAfee on my computer that was purchased recently, and the trial version is about to run out. I wanted to know the steps to removing McAfee for Windows 8. I have done a quick search and have only seen information that supports Windows 7 or lower, but wanted to know if there was something for Windows 8 specifically.
As well, where would I find the MCPR.exe removal tool that would be for WIndows 8? I have tried searching your site but cannot readily find this link.
Thank you so much for you help!
You can remove McAfee from the control panel - Add or remove programs - Right click on McAfee - uninstall.
Else you can run MCPR ( McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool ) and then restart the computer.
Thank you so much for your quick response! It is much appreciated
Should I perform both steps then to ensure it is completely wiped from the system? As well, will this link work for Windows 8 system? Where is it located on your website so that when I go to do, I will ensure I have the latest tool version?
Yes you can do both mentioned step's. Given tool is the latest one and it is supported for windows 8 as well. Just copy and paste this link in your browser address bar and then press the enter key - Follow the instruction's.
I would add that not doing the windows control panel removal will leave your PC name shown in your licences in your account that is using a licence but as you are removing it not a big deal not to use the windows removal path. Though doing both is the neatest way.
Hi,can you tell me how to copy and paste the MCPR link plz? Is it the same link for my system XP professional ?

Go to the Technical Support pages and look for MCPR in the search box or click the link in Useful Links at the top of this page to go to the FAQ, or here is the direct download: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
Mouse to the beginning of that URL and holding down the left click button scan to the end of it to highlight it, once highlighted, hover over it and right-click - Copy (or copy link location), then you can go to wherever you want to paste it, right-click - Paste.
There are hundreds of others on the web if you do a Google search.
Or simply point at that link and right-click and select Copy link location.

I have tried your link, but when I execute the program I am asked for a username and an administrator password. I have tried my laptop's username and administrator password, but I receive a message saying this user could not be verified as the user that installed the product, which makes sense as this is a trial version and I did not install McAfee. Then I am advised that I can obtain an uninstall code at any time by contacting McAfee support. Can you advise where on your site I can find this please?
Thank you very much.
