1 When you removed Kaspersky did you remove it via its own removal tool? You do need to do this.
2. Run Mcafee's removal tool after you do 1 above and reboot then run The MCpr tool from here
3. Reinstall after running
and reinstall from your account
If you still have an issue try
If you do not have access to the Internet:
- Save your data and close all open programs.
- Restart your computer.
- After the computer restarts, confirm that you can access Internet resources by going to familiar web pages.
If you can successfully get to the Internet, right-click the M icon and click Check for Updates.
Then call support if issues persists it is free to discuss issues with them.
There's also this possible solution starting with Solution 1: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101446
I'm not too sure but this could also be caused by a recent Microsoft update clashing with something in the software. It's happened before and not just with McAfee security software.
Tech Support would know.
I had the exact same problem on feb 22. Also using windows XP. Just installed that day. I called tech support 866-622-3911. It was not my service provider causing the problem - but Mcafee internet security. I had to completly uninstall, and get a fix from them to completly wipe all aspects of the program. Then install again, via download from site. Now internet connection works with McAfee.
Note: having second problem on second install on new computer - Dat file won't update and program will not update - will have to solve that one.
Seems like lots of problems for brand new software. Not sure if I will use Mcafee again
These things only seem to hit certain machines though, that's the problem and that's why Tech Support is the best bet. Regarding your other issue I would start a new thread of your own if you can't sort it out
Maybe running MVT will fix the issue?or are you on a proxy server ie at an university?
- Today I have the same issue on my old XP laptop after installing Total Protection 2013. After I un-installed McAfee, Internet connection returns without any problems. So, it's definitely a McAfee problem. One thing I noticed while installing McAfee, Windows prompted a "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" error.
Ok, this is how my Internet connection can survive with McAfee... I installed it by NOT using the CD from the package box but installing directly from my own McAfee account profile. One must create one of this account when you activate the software. Click on "My Account" tab right-top corner . Then either on the "Device Protection" or "Products and Subscriptions" tab, click the "Download" red button to downloading the software again. It shouldn't ask you for the activation code again. However, one thing I noticed a little different is that the navigation interfaces are larger when I clicked on task bar icon.
Hope this helps.
That was what I was thinking that you installed a version from the cd that was not patched ie this net issue was fixed last September I think.
The larger interface is because you are runnning at a lower resolution like at 1024 by 768 the security center is not small. what version of Mcafee was installed 11.6 or 12.1?
Is this the case?
