    Issue with EEPC 7

    Hemant Koli

      Hello Everyone,

      EEPC ver. 7.0

      Windows 8

      Laptop Make/Model Dell Vostro 2420

I m facing an issue with McAfee EEPC 7 on Dell Vostro windows 8 laptop. While PBA Login Laptop's onboard keyboard & mouse are not working, regarding onboard keyboard issue it stops working only after the Shift Key is pressed. And when we connect USB keyboard/mouse it works fine with no Issues.

          Hi Hemant,

Please view this discussion and update your BIOS, with UEFI Asbsolue pointers, or uninstall and then reinstall keyboard drivers.

            Hello Alex,

            Thanks for Reply.

We already had Latest BIOS installed.

"or uninstall and then reinstall keyboard drivers." do we need to uninstall & reinstall drivers from all the laptops????.......

if it's a windows 8 UEFI machine, then the keyboard support is provided by the uEFI environment vendor (Dell most likely) - It's like a keyboard driver in Windows. You'll need to work with Dell to see if there's updated uEFI software for this particular machine.

for uEFI machines, EEPC is simply an application running in the uEFI environment, like an application running in Windows - all the device driver support etc is provided by the uEFI "OS"

Looking at the Dell site though - the Vostro 2420 is not a Windows8 certified device? It may be that as it's such a base model that Dell simply didn't build the necessary support into it?

                Hello Simon.

It is Windows 8 BIOS based system,

"Looking at the Dell site though - the Vostro 2420 is not a Windows8 certified device? It may be that as it's such a base model that Dell simply didn't build the necessary support into it?" So you mean to say that EEPC 7 will not support on this particular model?.

I'm saying since the device was not built to support Win8 (AFAIK), we have no idea if it will work or not.
