If MVT cannot fix a problem due to whatever reason the software may have corrupted, then try uninstalling all the software via Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program (Add or Remove Programs in XP)
Run the MCPR cleanup tool, listed also under Useful Links, reboot and reinstall from your online account.
I've uninstalled as you have suggested but having problems with finding MCPR clean up tool, as the link in useful links seems to be broken.
Must have been a glitch have downloaded an run MCPR and now reinstalling from online software via my account.
