VirusScan 8.8i Patch 3 Repost does not disable Windows Defender under Windows 8

Have just started testing the latest McAfee VirusScan 8.8i Patch 3 Repost package. Noticed that this package no longer disables the built-in Windows Defender. It does say in the release notes that they leave it on. In the past this was always disabled when installing McAfee.  Why would they do this? I tested the Eicar virus and noticed that IE quit responding and after several attempts "Windows Defender" popped up a Malware message.  The security center says that both Defender and VirusScan are turned on but yet only Defender intercepted the Eicar test virus. To get McAfee to warn about Eicar required me disabling Windows Defender which took many steps under Windows 8.. This is a pain that we know have to instruct end-users to disable Defender before installing McAfee VirusScan 8.8i Patch 3.
