Please remember patch3 is only for Win8 and Win 2012.
Can it co-exist in the same branch as Patch 2?
Or do we have to do some tag-based policies to force Windows 8 / Server 2012 boxes to install the update?
Yes they will co-exist but will recomend to check into Evaluation group because in the update task you will see only one entry of VSE under 'products and service packs' and I believe patch3 will take precedence over patch2.
This morning, the patch 3 for VSE 8.8 has appeared in my EPO. I'm gonna test it soon on my alpha computers but it's funy to see a hotfix for the Patch3 (VSE880HF820636.zip from a few days now) being available before it.
So i will test bioth of them together
Yes, that particular hotfix is applicable to Patch 1, Patch 2, and Patch 3.
We could not include it in Patch 3 because it was already too late to accept any changes for that package - such is the case with trying to develop and release software; you reach a point where if you don't have a "cut-off" you'll never release because there's always something to change.
I found this in my software manager a couple of weeks ago. I went to software manager this morning, did a refresh and now it's gone! Anyone find the same problem?
Temporarily patch3 is removed from the website and from software manager. Please look at KB#: KB76536
Ah sorry, missed that one
Any reason why Patch3 is removed temporarily?
I'm expierencing issue where policies are not being apppplied on some Win8 clients from ePO, and on others the DAT & Patch update policy gets applied but the ODS policy doesnt.
the KB artible KB76536 only tells us the difference between patch2 & patch3 files.
