    FireTray.exe error on bootup

Hello - I have received about 5 reports in the last couple weeks about users getting the same error message on bootup and wondered if anyone else has had this issue and know a solution.

      The error message is:
Header = FireTray.exe - Unable To Locate Component
Body = This application has failed to start because FireCore.dll was not found. Re-insatlling the application may fix this problem.

      McAfee Agent 4.0.0.1345
      HIPS 7.0.0.1021

I have manually uninstalled HIPS on one of them, figuring the Agent would notice that this machine does not have HIPS and reinstall using the deployment task but it has not and everytime I manually try to install a HIP deployment task I get "Error occurred while installing HOSTIPS_7000" The others we have had to resort to reimaging because I cannot get HIPS to reinstall. I don't want to keep doing this. Is there a simpler solution?

I cannot be the only person to experience this, can I? I reported it to McAfee and they just pointed me to the manual HIPS removal process. Not really the solution I was hoping for when it continues to happen and a lot of our users are virtual.

Anybody have any idea why this is happening? Today, I received a report of it happening on a fresh machine with a new image. The image has ePO 4.0 and VSE 8.5. The HIPS and other updates occur through the scheduled deployment tasks.

          THanks,

            Hi,

May come a bit late, but I just went off and compared the directory structure to a working machine, any missing files I added, reboot, no error message anymore. McAfee Agent does not have it in the Info Screen, so I suppose there is stil something amiss. Services are starting up properly now, if it works properly, time will tell :-).

            Was HIPS 8.0.0.1741 btw.

            Kind regards,

            SB
