I am running Windows 7 32 bit pro with MacFee from AT&T.
I have the same problems except they started as soon as I
loaded Windows 7 SP-1. The last boot following the install
of SP-1 MacFee started with the pop up box in Red you are at risk.
If I roll back SP-1 MacFee works OK. If I reinstall SP-1 the
trouble comes back. It effects MacFee Firewall and one in a
while real time scanning.
Any help would be appreciated. I am running with SP-1 uninstalled.
Never roll back important updates to accomodate software. Without SP1 your software isn't supported anyway so reinstall it and the several dozen updates since SP1 plus make sure that Internet Explorer 9 is installed as McAfee relies on it to function. Also make sure that Java is installed and any other add-ons to your browsers are updated.
You should always disable antivirus when trying to install a service pack anyway. See my (hopefully) helpful hints here on that: https://community.mcafee.com/docs/DOC-2205
If it fails afterwards then uninstall McAfee via Control panel, run MCPR cleanup tool listed under Useful Links at the top of the page, reboot and then reinstall it from your online account.
Try running MVT from the service page and see if it can fix things. It did for my issues after I rebooted. Also ensure the servuce for windows firewall is set to started and automatic. ie type services.msc in the run line.
We need a screen shot of the Windows Firewall screen & McAfee Home Screen before and after the SP 1, so that we can check SP 1 disables the windows firewall or not
