Ran stinger still no luck Ive ran tons from malwarbytes to spyhunter all is good but now I removed mcafee and cant get it to redownload after doing mvt it tells me cant update? And now my restore point wont go back far enough to restore and get mcafee back up any suggestion would greatly be appreciated..Thanks
When you removed Mcafee maybe fbi virus is preventing a reinstallation. Whan you uninstalled did you use this method?
I thought stinger maybe in safe mode would have worked. Try also malwarebytes in safe mode as well. will ask someone who know more.
At first I removed it from programs in control panel then Ihave ran that after trying to reinstall it I also tried downloading AVG last night and it wouldnt down load either... Thanks the help...Looking for more ideas
Your post I assume implies you ran the mcpr removal tool do the same now with AVg's tool to clean up all installs.
No reply from my Mcafee labs tech I contacted as yet if he suggests something I will post it.
Try renaming the malwarebytes setup file and running it . During the install rename the malwarebytes folder and that way the virus if it is preventing the install will not stop it. Just a wild thought.
to Gladiator 2569,
Follow the links that Peacekeeper (moderator) provided for resolution of the FBI Moneypak (greendot) virus. I resolved mine essentially by following the same steps (safemode w/networking to stop the virus's running process then run a system restore) on my own after not finding much help at the McAfee site (except for offers to remove it for $90).
That greatly disappointed me, I found this site a day later - but not $90 shorter.
Now I need to resolve the super slow performance issues that are evident, anyone have any suggestions?
Re slowness this after an auto update to 12.1? If so a full uninstall reinstall could help as none of my 12.1 installs beta or consumer are what one would call slow.
and reinstall from your account
