Check if chrome and IE got full permissions in McAfee Internet Connections and Programs list, if not provide full access
- Open McAfee Security Center
- Click on Navigation at the top right corner
- Open Firewall
- Under Firewall Settings check for Internet Connections and Programs
- Open the Internet Connections and Programs drawer
Also try restore defaults to change the McAfee firewall settings to default and check the issue
My Connections had Chrome with Full access but it was listed twice. I deleted one and then Restored Defaults and now access is permitted.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for posting back with the result
I am having the same issue. Resetting defaults does not help. I have checked for new updates, but I am up to date. I can go to news.yahoo.com or finance.yahoo.com, but not www.yahoo.com. This started over the weekend.
This is happening on 3 computers: at one stie on a Windows XP and a Windows Vista computer using IE and Firefox and at another site on Windows XP with IE (didn't try Firefox).
I have been having the same problem, in my case it was caused by Mcafee Net Guard blocking the ip address 184.108.40.206 ir1.fp.vip.ch1.yahoo.com. The solution was to edit the NetGuard setting for this ip to allow connection for all programs:
Open Mcafee Security Centre
Select Net Guard
Click on the ip address 220.127.116.11
Select Allow this connection for all programs
Click on Apply
I have not found the ip address 18.104.22.168 in any other ip blacklist though Mcafee SiteAdvisor lists it as a potential security risk.
Are you still having problems with yahoo site? Please Confirm
My issue, as I reported 12/17, is now resolved.
Today, Mcafee started blocking access to yahoo.com on my PC too. I hope they come up with a fix ASAP.
Anyone facing this problem still? Have your problems solved? Mine just happened 2 days ago...still happening when I post this. Net Guard is still blocking yahoo.com.
