It will require resyncing... Always requires resyncing when updating because there are updates to the policy which then need to be reflected on the device. Resyncing has gotten better though, at least in 10.2, as my users didn't all get errors at one time, they needed to resync at the next poicy enforcement. This ment they cam to me slowly throughout the day.
I recommend getting people used to the process of resyncing since it is a common part of MDM solutions. Just document the process and tell people to do it just like you tell people to restart thier computer when applications are crashing or whatever. Then notify people before the update and only a small percentage will actually need your help. Then hopefully they get in the habbit of doing an Update Policy before calling helpdesk and be able to solve the majority of issues without assistance.
I would jump strait to 10.2 at this point. It was a big update with a lot of new iOS 6 features.
When you say resyncing, do you mean reprovisioning where they have to go through the EMM app, accept the agreement, etc.? Basically, that will uninstall and reinstall the profile?
Yes, that's what I mean.
The exception is patch upgrades. Version upgrades (10.0 to 10.1) require updating the profile, patch updates (10.1 to 10.1 patch 3) don't.
Thx a lot for your input
Always appreciated !
