HIPS 8.0 with Patch 2 Installation

I am looking at putting HIPS 8.0 with Patch 2 into the "Current" branch of me ePO 4.5 server. I seem to remember from upgrades in the past that the only way to upgrade machines that already have HIPS 8.0 Patch1 on them is to deploy the HIPS 8.0 Patch 2  (Patch only) to these machines. Furthermore if I did run the HIPS 8.0 with Patch 2 installer on a machine that already has HIPS 8.0 with Patch 1 it would fail because HIPS 8.0 is already installed. Does this hold true or am I way off base here?  Thanks in advance.

Re: HIPS 8.0 with Patch 2 Installation

You are correct.  You cannot upgrade an existing HIPS 8.0 installation to Patch 2 using the full installer.  It will fail.  You must use the incremental upgrade package to upgrade HIPS 8.0 RTW/P1 to Patch 2.

HIP80LMLRP2.Zip - Full installer; used to upgrade from a previous HIPS version (e.g., HIPS 7.0), or for a fresh installation of HIPS 8.0 (no HIPS installed); pushed via an ePO Deployment task.

HIP80P2.Zip - Patch upgrade package, used to upgrade from HIPS 8.0 RTW or Patch 1; pushed via an ePO Update task.
