Moved to Encryption: ePO Managed for better attention.
You don't have to "open" these windows to get encryption to start - it will start in the background on its own.
I know what you are trying to do - to speed up the time it takes for encryption to initially kick off - right? You really don't need the Endpoint Encryption Status screen running, it has no interaction and is just there for information.
What you need to do is to manually kick-off at least one (preferably two or three) 'Update Security' - this establishes good comms with ePO and makes sure you have all the keys you need for communication.
<McAfee VirusScan Dir> mcupdate /UPDATE /QUIET
then you need to send the properties of the asset:
<McAfee Agent Dir>\cmdagent /P
then you need to send any events (the 'Creating Event...' in the Endpoint Encryption Status Screen)
This is included when you check for new/updated policies, so the command is:
<McAfee Agent Dir>\cmdagent /C
Wait 10-20 secs, do the last command again - you can program it to run a few more times.
This usually will start the whole encryption process within 5 minutes or so on a PC that has a good network connection (don't try across the VPN unless you are sure your hostname gets put into DNS immediately!)
Thank you for answering the question, that's excactly what I'm looking for, thanks again!!
