I think complete uninstall and then re-install is the best option.
Yes. I see that is the only option. Longer procedure if it is neccessary accross the enterprise of over 6000. It would be easier to run the roll back patch and it automatically over rides.

Yes I agree! You always need to roll these patches out very slowly. I try to roll out a alpha test group, then a beta group and finally a slow rollout 50-100 at a time for 1-2 weeks before finally enabling it everywhere.
So far my testing with VSE8.8P2 has not thrown up any issues, what are the issues you are experiencing?
