If both machines are 64 bit then it will be more easy for you to migrate, just apply ePO 4.5 patch 3 build 937 at least and follow this KB66616. Good luck
Thanks Alex , but i beleive that 1st machine is 32bit (windows2003)
The better way to do this is to re-install ePO on 2008R2 64bit and import the policies?
Thank you Peter ,
but as you said this is part of what i am looking for.
In fact i don't want to have to ePO servers, i just want to have the new one (in my case 4.6) in a windows 2008 R2 installation and not in the current 2003.
Does McAfee support that kind of migration, because i am looking for an answer a few days now and every user does it in tricky way.
If i create a new installation in windows 2008 R2 with ePO4.6 what i would do with agents that i have already install (ePO4.5) ?
Do I have to create the policies again or an import is fine ?
A new server with a new name is OK or do i have to keep the same name as the current one ?
I don't think you quite understand what Peter is trying to explain.
You only have two ePO servers whilst your transfering the clients from old ePO to new ePO. That's what Peter explains to do in the blog entry.
Once all clients are transferred over you simply uninstall ePO from the old server....job done.
