we use Epo server 4.5.
we solved this by Copying ( though the Change Branche action) the DAT Package from the current branche to the evaluation branche ( from the master repository section )
So even in epo4.5p1+ma4.5 we wont be able to deploy VS patches from the evaluation branch???????
SolutionThis issue is targeted for resolution in McAfee Agent 4.5 Extension Patch 1. Because of the extensive number of point product dependencies and testing required to complete this feature a resolution will not be released to support before 22 March 2010.If not before 22nd then when should we expect this patch?
with patch 2 you could check in vs 8.7 with patch 2 included in to eval branch.
Then, deploy that to some testers. It will most likely uninstall the current vs install (even 8.7) and then reinstall the full 8.7 with patch 2.
We are already on VS87 Patch 2. The problem is how to deploy Patch 3 to the group of test machines using ePO deployment. There is no full 8.7 install with included Patch 3, and we dont know when McAfee is going to release it.
I'm running ePO 4.0.0 (Build: 1298 - Patch 5), VSE 8.7 with Patch 2.
Today I'm checked in VSE 8.7 patch 3 into ePO as branch: evaluation.
Now I wanne upgrade some clients with patch 3. I created a new task but can't select from which branch I want to update.
How can I do that?
At this time you cannot deploy patches from any branch except the "Current" branch. This is slated to be resolved with McAfee Agent 4.5 Patch1 (I hope) which should be released within the next few weeks. You can deploy full product upgrades from the "evaluation" branch i.e. VirusScan 8.7i with Patch 3 but McAfee has not yet released the "rolled up" 8.7i that includes Patch 3. Refer to KB53025 in the McAfee Knowledge base.
Thank you for your reply. I don't have ePO 4.5 installed. Hope that the functionality will also work with ePO 4.0 in the future.
I know the possibility with the VSE 8.7 incl. P3. But this package is not finished and published yet, as you describe.
