My similar experience is that on several pcs that had v8.7 + p1 and then I manually installed p2, after reboot mcshield would crash and then disable OAS.
The solution for me in 3 cases (vista, server 2008 and xp) was to uninstall vs, install v8.7+ p1, then p2, reboot and i wouldn't have this problem.
I worry about deploying p2 in epo.
I got the same crash problem on win7 x64.
Mcshield service stopped randomly when I surf the internet using IE.
I am using the maximum protection of VSS.
uninstalled and reinstalled again, but problem still there.
I can't replicate it on my test Vista machine, either with the 5300 or 5400 engines.
I notice from the error report that the machine is running the 5300 engine. Do you want to try it with the 5400 engine and see if that may assist?
(Note from the readme, there is a requirement for the 5301 engine at a minimum).
Had this problem also, try to disable cookie scanning. Unchecking this option fixed this issue for me.
So far it has appeared to of fix the issue for me as well. Did you open a case with McAfee or let them know about this?
Even with cookie scanning on in my config, I still can't replicate the issue...
It's going to be one of those issues that takes ages to get McAfee to acknowledge - unless you can find an easy way for McAfee to recreate.
(Been there and lived through the experience!)
This method works for me too. Thanks.
Hope McAfee with look into this annoying problem soon.
When the Anti-Spyware Enterprise module is installed and cookie detections occur, and the engine version is older than 5400, the on-access scanner may terminate unexpectedly.
Update to the 5400 engine or later to resolve the issue.
