    VirusScan Enterprise Won't Update

In all likelyhood it's just me experiencing this, but I hope you can help as I'm at a total lost as to what to do.

I have Macafee VirsusScan Enterprise ver. 8.7i. I would use the Console to manually download updates since I'm ususally not at home during the time designated for Autoupdate.

Two days ago, however, the window that showd the download progress didn't show. Instead I saw the date and time of lates update change. I tried again but the same thing happened, this time the time advancing by 5 seconds.

I tried rightclicking to get to the properties, but it won't come out. All I could pull out was the logs that showed no updating since the day before.

Could somebody please tell me what's going on?

I've had it where that box doesn't show up yet it still updates. Log in the logs, or find your cmdagent.exe, go to that folder in a command prompt, then run cmdagent /s to see what happens when you do an update now.

            First of all, thanks.

I did what you said. I opened a command prompt, found the folder and ran 'cmdagent /s'. The Agent Monitor came up. I then opened the VirusScan console and tried to update again.

It's still the same thing, and there are no changes in the Agent monitor, besides it enforcing policies every 5 minutes.

            What do I do now?

I would try uninstalling the mcafee agent, restarting, running a reg cleaner like the one included in ccleaner, and reinstalling it. Might just be easier to redo VirusScan altogether.

What does your agent log say? What about your update log?

I could put the entire agent and update logs since it's to long. I hope this helps. I really hope I could get a solution which doean't involve reinstalling McAfee.

Also, if anyone knows, I want to know what could have caused this. Knowledge is power, and it could help me a lot in the future
