Try restarting the McAfee ePO services on your ePO server.
How does one do that? I'm no techie, the version I use was sold to me by the university as a student and I use it on my home pc.
Also, on-access scanning is disabled.
OK, maybe you can't connect to the university's ePO server if you're offsite, then?
I would, as a first recourse, contact your university's IT helpdesk.
