The protocol defaults to https but you may specify http if SSL is disabled on your ePolicy Orchestrator server.
Aah, no, not in the field. I'll send a note to our doc team to clean that up. In development we often enable both http and https communication to the application server because it can aid in debugging, but during the ePO installation process we only enable https.
