This discusison is primarily for ePO administrators who have a hand in Information Assurance and compliance and are noticing that sometime when deploying Asset Baseline Monitor to a client machine that two versions are reported to the ePO. More specifically for upgrading version 3.0 to 3.5. When pushing 3.5 to a client machine, the registry key that is responsible for idenifying what versions of products are installed on the machine is not removed. The registry for this can be found by opening Registry Editor and locating the registry titled ASSETS_3000. This can be done with a find or navigate to this location in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Network Associates\ePolicy Orchestrator\Application Plugins
There you should see two registry keys for ASSETS_3000 and ASSETS_3500.
Delete ASSETS_3000 to fix this issue.
Where is this key in Windows XP clients? It does not exist.
This key does exist on the ePO server, however. I have multiple XP clients showing the older and newer versions of ABM, yet the key described above does not exist within the XP machines registries...
