Anti-Spam running slow, fails to terminate

This is only on the XP machine with Outlook Express 6


Anti-spam appears to process messages from some, and only some, of the web mail services I use.  Where anti-spam is not involved the messages download very fast; when anti-spam gets hold of messages it takes a long time to process them - up to 30 seconds per message - and sometimes, when it eventually reaches the last message to be processed, the pop-up box showing progress freezes and cannot be dismissed. I have to kill off the process from Task Manager or Process Explorer.

This popup has been on-screen now for 3 hours, so clearly it's not going away.


I don't see any posts about this so it may be local settings at fault. Has anyone else seen this?
