    Dual Network Cards on Node

    tao

McAfee agent on a server that has dual network cards (enterprise network & private network).  Question: Anyway to force the McAfee agent to use only the enterprise network interface?

Have the private nic disabled while the agent is being installed ?

That would only offer it one card to bind with.

After that re-enable the provate nic.

          Just a thought.

Once the private nic is enable you lose communication with the agent.

              Yes...

Found this KB53196 McAfee Agent on a computer with multiple NIC cards cannot be bound to a specific IP address....No host file, no *.ini file listing specific IP ordering.,,,Really, come on?

Also, if you put your preferred nic at the top of the list.  Network Connections > Advanced > Advanced Settings > Connections.  Move the NIC you want to the top.

While I can't quote this as 'by design' it's been my experience that it always binds to whatever the top nic's IP is.

                Hope that helps.
