If I remember correctly, it is possible through System Tree Actions > New Systems from the System Tree screen. However, you have to use each client's system name as the domain and use a username and password for an administrator account on each system. Basically, you'll be deploying the agent one system at a time.
If your worstations are in managable count then you can go for manual installation on workgroup clients
1) Go to the Mcafee ePO server's C:\Program Files\McAfee\ePolicy Orchestrator\DB\Software\Current\EPOAGENT3000\Install\0409
2)copy the FramePkg.exe to the client machine
3)double click and install the frame package now the workstation will become managed by ePO server(if you wants to install more than one client kindly copy the framepkg.exe to some other shared location or USB or CD/DVD)
Else if you wants to install the agent via ePO then kindly follow the options posted by jguenrdc
If you have a common user (let's say administrator for example) on each machine with same password then you d'nt need to deploy one at once, just select any machines you want and at the credentials section just put your username with its password and under domain name just put a dot (.)

I have tested with the .(dot) and a local administrator but without success.
Do you habe deyploy the agent on Windows XP stations?
Are you able to connect to the ADMIN$ on the remote XP systems? If you have that share closed you will not be able to deploy the agent via ePO.
