what patch level of VSE 8.5?
did the patch install part of the VSE install work?
has the server been rebooted?
was there anything on the server to start with like vse 8.0 that had been removed?
Well, the version number of McAfee says Patch 7, but if we try to manually install Patch 7, it'll say the installation has been interrupted (I'm guessing because the service won't start) and fails.
The server has been restarted.
There was no VSE installed prior to this.
you may have to log a call with support and end up running the MERE tool to get to the bottom of this, nothing is immediately obvious
