Control Center has a 'Find and Replace' option (check out the icons above the rules on the right hand side). Generally I would recommend that you create the application defense you want. Then do a find and replace and replace all the old ones with the new ones.
Check out KB71733 for some videos and other documentation on upgrading and rule clean-up
Thanks. I found the find and replace option in CC, but it only allows me to select Network Objects (source and destinations) or firewalls. I do not see an option to find and replace App Defenses or Firewalls that rules are associated with. I am running CC 5.2.1 to a 8.2.1 MFE.
KB71733 had the answer in Tutorial TU30245. You can now drag and drop an App Def into multi-highlighted rules within CC. GREAT NEW FEATURE!! thanks for sending me in the right direction Dave...
Glad you found it! I forgot the find and replace didn't work for app defenses (we might need to change that). I am glad you found the drag and drop to multiple rules helpful. I was just going to suggest that as a follow-up, but you beat me to it.
