VirusScan 8.8 & Right Click: Scan for threats

    ROsupport

      Hi all,

we are using VSE 8.8 on Windows 7 32/64 bit machines. Our Useres are member of the locale "Power Users" Group.

The problem we have is if a user wants to use the  "Right Click: Scan for threats" option on the locale machine, to scan a File or Folder he/she gets a UAC logon window which prompted him/her to enter a administrator password. So the user is thinking that he/she don't have the rights to perform the scan and is canceling the process. But If he/she enters his/her password it is working !

It is simliar to the issue which was descriped in VSE 8.7 Patch 5 Release Notes:

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i Patch 5 Release Notes

      Issue:

On Windows 7, with Microsoft's User Account Control (UAC) turned on, the

Right Click: Scan for threats... On-Demand Scanning function does not have sufficient permissions to scan the files on mapped drives. (Reference: 632745)

      Resolution:

      Right Click: Scan for threats...

On-Demand Scanning function now uses the current logged on user's privileges to

scan the files on mapped drives.

Does anyone have a solution for that without turning off the UAC ?

      Regards

      Thomas
