Please post the agent_%computername%.log from an affected client (found in c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\mcafee\common framework\db or c:\programdata\mcafee\common framework\db).
I will be posting it shortly. What zaps me is that certain machine pertaining to that group will pull the updates from its respective dr but other machines pertaning to that same group will update from the master repository. Just wanted ur thoughts on that what is triggering this stuff
Thanks & Regards
The selection of the Repository by a client is not necessarly connected to the clients OU.
The repository selection is configured in the client´s McAfee Agent policy. What are your settings there ?
But is the master repository disabled in the policy?
How is the policy configured to select the repository? Ping time, subnet distance or repository order?
https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB55685 explains how it's calculated.
Ok - so for further analysis we need the clients agent log. Could be that the fallback is used because of issues with the local repository - but thats just a guess without the logs
I have disabled the master repository coz if the machines fail to replicate they should not report to the master repository rather they can be down without the updates for atleast a day or so. If machines are reporting to the mr the bandwith is consumed.
However in this case both the DR & the MR are located in Mumbai for the mumbai based group. Here it is ok if the machines take updates from the master repository since the location is the same & the bandwith consumed will more or less be the same.
But the funny part machines from the same Mumbai group take updates from the DR which is set as the 1st priority & then comes the MR. Certain machines follow the policy as described & certain machines dont even though they are pertaining to the same group.
The policy is configured is as per the repository list.
pls help guys
