McAfee Agent Error: "Agent failed to communicate with epo server"

    adeelm

      Hi everyone,

I have installed McAfee Agent on a Clinet with win XP with SP3. All the agent wakeup calls were received by the agent properly. Then I installed the Endpoint Encryption for PC on the client. After the installation error message appeared in the McAfee Agent telleing that "Agent failed to communicate with epo server". All the McAfee tools installed are mentioned belw. and the McAfee Agent Logs are attached for your reference.

In the agent log, I see communication error message (unable to connect to epO server). Please check the basic network communication and agent ports.

            Thanks for your  reply,

I have changed the ports from default. I can telnet the new ports. Still I am facing this issue.

            Thanks

              2012-01-12 14:03:50.339    I    #3912    naInet    failed to receive package..server is busy

This is probably your problem - please check the SERVER.LOG in your epo servers install directory (DB\LOGS) and search for the corresponding client name. Perhaps you have a duplicate GUID problem and therefore the server is rejecting the clients request ....

              Regards Tom

Thanks metalhead... I looked in to the server.LOG file and was able to find the epo server was not able to authenticate the user with the LDAP server. I changed the Credentials and all went well after that....

                Thanks

I changed the account used to query LDAP (AD) but I'm still seeing this issue. Has anyone found something else that may be causing the problem?

                  Thank you.

This only happens to certain users not all users. I haven't been able to locate what is special about these 20 or so people that is causing this issue.

Here is the error I receive:

                      I figured out my issue.

Check your EEPC Rule assignement criteria for User Based Policies. If you don't have these defined, you will get these LDAP problems.
