These settings are hardcoded - I believe it's epo.mcafee.com on port 443, so you'll need to ensure that this is reachable from the ePO server.
I am trying to run the "Download Software Product List" from Server Tasks and I see the following lines, which is confusing to me. I am reading this like it's trying to access a file on itself, rather than access a remote server/
1/10/12 2:07:39 PM Started: Download Software Product List
1/10/12 2:07:39 PM Downloading file C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\EPOLIC~1\DB\licensed_products_list.xml.tmp.
1/10/12 2:07:39 PM Downloading file C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\EPOLIC~1\DB\trial_products_list.xml.tmp.
1/10/12 2:08:00 PM Failed to download file C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\EPOLIC~1\DB\licensed_products_list.xml.tmp. There was an error connecting to the server (12029).
1/10/12 2:08:00 PM Failed to download file C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\EPOLIC~1\DB\trial_products_list.xml.tmp. There was an error connecting to the server (12029).
1/10/12 2:08:00 PM Failed to connect to the Software Catalog server.
1/10/12 2:08:00 PM Completed: Download Software Product List (Failed to download the products list due to "Failed to connect to the Software Catalog server.")
That's normal - I see the same in the logs on my machine. I think it's just slightly confusing log syntax, that's all
I have exactly the same problem....................
The only gotcha is that our Domain is NOT PERMITTED internet access and all Data in and out follows a prescribed Import\Export process.
Waiting on McAfee support to offer their suggestion to avoid us moving to Sophos.... LOL
No internet access means the software manager will be unable to function, I'm afraid - but you can still check in products and extensions manually as you did in earlier ePO versions. From that perspective nothing has changed:)
