8.0.0 is EOL 31-12-09, that's 1 year left
8.7's memory footprint is a about 30% smaller
IE7 is not supported with 8.0.0, with 8.0.0 IE7 is pretty slow.
There will be no more patches coming for 8.0.0, patch 16 is the last.
You are looking at a retired product.
We are facing the same situation, we have 6000 XP pro systems running 8.0.0.
We are waiting t'ill patch 1 of 8.7 and then migrate.
Thank you for the information. I wasn't aware of the expiration so thank you for that. At least I have a year to plan my migration. I think I'm with you, I'll wait until 8.7t Patch 1 to make my move. However I may have to move to 8.5i on a few systems since they are currently running IE7 with 8.0.
I want to point out to you that Common Framework 18.104.22.1682 that's included with VSE 8.0.0. is already EOL.
There will be a time not far away that VSE 8 will not update itself because CMA 22.214.171.1242 will stop working and you are forced to go to 126.96.36.1995 (4.0 + patch 1).
It might be updated regularly, but I find it interesting that VirusScan 8.7 isn't even listed as the current. They are still stating that 8.5 is the current.
