Yesterday we installed McAfee Total Protection. We use Photoshop to print on a large format Epson inkjet (Stylus Pro 9800) connected via USB. Working in Photoshop itself seems unaffected by McAfee, but using the print dialogs is extremely sluggish. It can take 15 or 20 seconds for the dialogs to respond to clicking on a setting -- something that normally happens right away. Just getting the Print dialog itself takes maybe 15 seconds after choosing Print from the File menu pulldown. Then if I click on "Print Settings" it will take another 15 or 20 seconds for that dialog to show up. This is seriously impeding our workflow and we will have to uninstall McAfee if this issue cannot be resolved.
Dell T3400 workstation running Windows 7 64-bit SP1, 8GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Extreme, 250 GB Intel SSD.
Update: Task Manager shows CPU utilization for McShield.exe going from 1 percent during normal Photoshop operations to 23 percent when I call up the Print dialog. Then once the dialog appears, CPU usage goes back down to 1 percent.
