There's a McAfee FAQ document about Atheros drivers which might help - it's at http://service.mcafee.com/faqdocument.aspx?id=TS101069. It refers to a problem on Windows 7 - is that what you have?

I agree with Peacekeeper. Just make sure Network Adaptors are up to date. becuase recently some McAfee users were experiencing BSOD caused due to Atheros Network Adaptors. After diagnosing the machine we found that user with WLAN_Atheros(Foxconn) driver version - 220.127.116.113-x86x64. Commonly getting the BSOD error. Since Network driver is not up to date
Steps to check Version of network Adaptor:
- · Open Device manager
- · Right click on Computer
- · click on manage
- · In the left hand panel click on Device Manager
- · Right click on network adaptor
- · Click on property
- · If not update the driver and make sure we get the latest.
- · If it’s not getting update check with OEM Website (system manufacture) or call your System vendor to get it updated.

Atheros AR5B93 Network Adapter driver versrion (current): 18.104.22.168
Auto- updated drivers through Device Manager. Windows updated it to 22.214.171.124
Internet works fine after driver update.
Installed McAfee Internet Security 2012. System can't find a network. Windows says, problem with network adapter. Please help!
Until the technician comes back into this thread try going into Windows Network - Control Panel > Network & Internet > Network & Sharing Center and check to make sure it is showing there. If there is more than one try disabling the other ones and reboot. See if McAfee then detects the network. Sometimes more than one network entry can confuse software and McAfee is no exception.

No there was just one. Had to go though the painful process again and restored again
Until someone else chips in here in the thread you might want to contact Technical Support Chat via Useful Links at the top of this page. Restoring isn't doing much good, just takes you back to what it was before.
