Until someone from that department comes along I can only suggest that it may not work with the home products as it is designed for use with VirusScan Enterprise or SaaS Endpoint Protection - both Corporate products and totally different from the consumer ones.

I had to do a lot of digging to even find it.   https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB53733

Meanwhile to test that your product is installed and working correctly use the McAfee Virtual Technician:  http://mvt.mcafee.com/

in my friend flashdisk, there is an odd file, 470A1245.exe , my friend`s mcafee av plus, detect it as artemis!XXXXXXXXXXX , on my parents flashdisk, there is same file, but, my mcafee av plus didn`t detect it, i scan it in virustotal, detected as artemis!XXXXXXXXXXX (sorry, the history is deleted). I don`t know why the artemis is not functioned well in my laptop. but, i`ve submit it to lab

Artemis detection means that it's been detected but the database doesn't know what it is.   The fact that it is detected on one machine and not another could mean either that it is infected on one machine only or the other machine has an updated DAT which no longer detects it - perhaps it was a false detection that McAfee have now corrected?

There are some guidelines here on what to do in the case of a false detection:  https://community.mcafee.com/thread/2016

Meanwhile it's wise to have one or two extra anti-malware tools updated and at hand just in case of problems.  See '3rd Party Tools' down the page here:  https://community.mcafee.com/docs/DOC-2168

i think it`s not a false detection, the file is in RECYCLER folder, i still remember, another antivirus in virus total detects it as win32/dorkbot.b

my mcafee splash screen also come too late, it will appear after several minutes startup up, so it means that mcafee processes come late too, it will be faster if i click the mcafee icon in taskbar. also, scheduled scanning could not be changed, always said that scheduled scanning is not configured although i have clicked "apply". i think my mcafee have some problems, i use mcafee av plus, windows 7 ultimate sp1 32 bit, RAM 1.5 GB, intel dual core @1.86GHz. please analyze this

                • 5. Re: my mcafee`s artemis problem

Do a Disk Cleanup to clear the temps and Recycler folders amongst others.  (Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup) - check them all.

Download, update and run the FREE version of THIS software.  (Note if malware prevents this you can do all of it in 'Safe Mode with Networking' reached by tapping F8 repeatedly while booting up and picking that from the ensuing menu, usually #2).

Meanwhile any Artemis people reading this will need the Artemis detection number.

removed by MBAM, as trojan.agent, but mcafee splash screen and scheduled scanning is still error, how can i fix it?

                    • 7. Re: my mcafee`s artemis problem

                      Assuming the infection is gone.

Maybe the Virtual Technician will repair it, try it first:  http://mvt.mcafee.com/

If not then you will have to uninstall the software from Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program in the normal manner, then run the MCPR cleanup tool linked under Useful Links at the top of this page, reboot and reinstall from your online account.
