There are several arguments against doing this. The medium used is not very fast and scanning its contents may vis likely to slow your computer down considerably. As the contents will still be scanned by the On-Access Scanner when opened, scanning on insertion can be more trouble than it is worth.

If you are using OAS (On Access Scanner) these files should be scanned if anything / anyone attempts to read/write/execute from the device.
Anything that goes through I/O is seen and scanned by the OAS (unless excluded).
