I've recently used ePolicy Orchestrator 4.6.1 to upgrade most of my workstations and servers from 8.7 to 8.8. However I noticed that my Backup Exec was complaining about the file mfetdik.sys not existing in my snapshot. That led me into discovering the reason is that the machine still has that McAfee driver showing in Device Managed even though it doesn't exist as a file on the machine and instead has the file mfewfpk.sys. Apparently Mcafee changed this in 8.8. So therefore I've got most machines in this condition. I do have one machine with both files registered in Device Manager (using Show hidden devices) and showing mfetdik.sys as not installed. So I can probably uninstall manually or maybe using the Mcafee tool mfehidin.exe. However I wonder if I didn't maybe install 8.8 correctly and if it was better to totally remove 8.7 via EPO first. What is everyone else doing about this?
Looks like a magical reboot at some point fixed this.
