I have this problem and it can be resolve with Document ID n°614778 . A hotfix was in this KB

Microsoft Office temporary files are not deleted.
When using Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word, it is not possible to save, rename or delete files.
Microsoft Office files are being locked.
Locked files are only released after a computer restart.
The Microsoft Office application displays the following error:
Save not completed. File rename failed, Retry?
Clicking Cancel generates the following message:
Your changes could not be saved to 'Tape logs v1.5.xls', but were saved to a temporary document named <File_Name>. Close the existing document, then open the temporary document and save it under a new name.
Change or Cause
The file system filter driver in this release, in conjunction with the opportunistic locking mechanism (enabled in Microsoft Windows operating systems by default), can cause server-hosted files to remain locked until the server is restarted.
Solution 1 - Download and install HotFix 375377
This issue is resolved in HotFix 375377 which is attached at the bottom of this article.
Solution 2 - Upgrade to VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i
Upgrade to VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i with a valid GRANT number. See KB41962 for general information on downloading software from McAfee.
NOTE: McAfee strongly advises upgrading to VSE 8.5i, which offers additional security features in addition to fixing this issue.
Solution 3 - Download the reposted VirusScan 8.0i package
The VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i package with Patch 16 and the 5200 engine has been posted to the download site.
HotFix 375377 is also included in the repost package as a separate install package.
Follow these steps to download the reposted VirusScan 8.0i package:
Go to the following website: https://secure.nai.com/apps/downloads/my_products/login.asp
Log on using a valid grant number.
Locate the McAfee VirusScan Security section.
Click View available downloads.
Click VirusScan Enterprise v8.0i.
Click I Agree to accept the license agreement.
Click VSE80iLEN.zip and save it to the desired location.
Disable Microsoft Opportunistic Locking (OpLock):

Sorry about dragging this back up. I'm having a similar issue on my network. Server 2003 R2, ePO 4.0.0, VS 8.7.0i. The only time I see the issue though is when I use the 'Convert' function in MS Excel 2007 on any of my client PCs to convert an older xls file to the current file type .xlsx When I do so McAfee on the file server will lock the temp file ~$filename.xlsx until I stop the service McShield on that server. As soon as I stop McShield all of the locked files go away.
So, a wild guess is that since I am on more recent versions of ePO and VS, the only solution I have from the options you listed is to disable OpLocks maybe?
