For the agents extension goto the McAfee Download page and get the EPOAGENTMETA.ZIP from the agent´s download section.
Then in your ePO Web GUI select "Menu->Software->Extension" and install this new extension.
Doesn't this require some kind of Grant number or login? I work for Government and I rely on other organizations to supply the correct files.
That's correct - you'll need to get your provider to supply the files as described by metalhead.
Using ePo 4.5, trying to use agent 4.6, deploy problems to Win 7
Okay I have the extensions in there, just user error on my part. Forgot that ext. were checked in differently. BUT. I still have issues on
getting a new Windows 7 machine to even communicate with the ePo server. I am using a test machine. But if I look at my workstation
(which is Windows 7) I had to do an "Agent Wake Up" and ever since the machine has been updating normally every day, automatically.
Back to my test machine. I have a test group in ePo and this test machine is in that group. I created an install client task to install the agent
at a scheduled time. Time comes and goes and the machine does not update. I went so far as to uninstall the agent that was there manually
and scheduled it again but still no good. Nslookup resolves the test machines IP and name.
Basically we image PC's quite a lot, we are a development LAN. I just want to get the machine on the LAN and forget about having to jump through hoops to get virus sig updates to work correctly. Should not have to think about it.
Where do I start looking??
Does the client appear correctly in the epo system structure ?
If you use an image with an installed agent, did you check this:
Displays correctly in ePo. Need to determine if it's not just a Win 7 issue or an ePo problem. Tried to deploy again and checked
server.log and no indication that task tried to execute.
For testing could you just create a new task with schedule "run immediatley", assign it and then wake up the client ?
Afterwards please post screenshots of your task and task assignment settings and additionaly the agent_%computername%.log from the client.
Thank you. I can guarantee that it will all work with an agent "Wake up". The reason I am troubleshooting it without doing that is once I do that
the machine will work (see my 1st Oct. 17 post). And probably work from that point on. But I will get the log before and after.
