Last few days I have had several Blue screens crashes while I am using utorrent. At times the crash happens 5 minutes after opening utorrent and sometimes after an hour. I searched the issue on many forums
and looks like everybody attributes it to McAfee.
This is a new laptop that I am using and I have updated all the drivers that I could think of to the latest available versions. I am currently using WIN 7 SP1.
The message with the crash is "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal".
I have resolved the issue by uninstalling Virus Scan Enterprise.
I posted the same issue on another McAfee forum and got a few replies. The whole thread can be found here -
https://community.mcafee.com/thread/39084?tstart=0 (Not sure if I can post a URL but since this is from the same McAfe forum I thought it is safe)
Please help resolve this error, so that I can reuse the Virus scan enterprise
I seem to have to same problem, did you get your problem fixed?
I am having the same problem since i was using mcafee virusscan enterprise 8.8 5400.1158. on Win 7 x64 SP1.
Getting a BOD several times a day:
Thanks in advance for any advice to get this fixed.
This is a really old thread.
Have you tried limiting the speeds of uploads and downloads to 80% of your bandwidth? What's at work here is some issueswith a network driver (NETIO.SYS). Also, have you tried running uTorrent in a VM on this same machine. Sure, that's a lot more work but it forces a different set of drivers into the mix and might change up the results. (I'm not suggesting this as a fix. I'm just curious to see if it changes something.)
Your best bet is to open a support ticket, gain escalation, run a MER and have them work your case. Just tell them you have BSOD. I use uTorrent myself and have never had issues but we might well have different machines with different network cards. If there's a problem I'd want to see it fixed.
