We have seen this on systems that have been upgraded from patch 4 to 6. Current solution from McAfee is to do a reboot - McAfee are aware of this and believe a KB is coming. We are continuing to investigate...
after installing patch 6.1, i'm also seeing performance problems and delays after booting.
anyone else with this problem? i wish i stayed at patchlevel 5 :(
engine 5300 doesn't resolve this...
i upgraded from 5 to 6.1, newest agent.
I'm seeing similar issues with our systems. CPU is about 50-60% consumed with two 'mcshield.exe' processes.
One of the processes uses around 7Mb and in the region of 50% CPU and the other process is using approx 80Mb and 10% CPU.. very odd.
We have patch 6 on our systems, running the 5201.3074 engine.
The EPO agent is V184.108.40.2060
Not sure whether I should upgrade to 5300 engine and patch 6.1?
Going to log a call with McAfee to see what they say about it.
It appears there are issues with Patch 6 whereby 2 McShield.exe processes are left running. This only occurs during installation and should go away after a reboot. You can also terminate the process with less memory (one running at 50%) and that will deal with it too thus avoiding a reboot.
KB 616344 describes this problem.
