Moved from Home Products to VirusScan Enterprise for better attention.
It is in the correct area now. You had posted in Home and Home Office > VirusScan originally, which was not the right spot.. Someone will hopefully help you here now that I moved it.
When you say nothing happens. Does it enable and then disable itself after a while?
It might be the result of an 'Access protection' policy defined on your ePO server (assuming you have one).
Check and see if this particular server doesn't have a unique 'Access protection' policy assigned to it and if so see if the 'Enable Access Protection' has been unticked.
Juste renstall or repair the VSE or post any errors from your Event viewer.
I am seeing this same issue too. I asked McAfee about it, but claim it isn't an issue with VSE 8.8. Since they think it is a non issue, I am assuming it wont be addressed in patch 1.
We have mcafee 8.8 on most of our servers, but today i findout that the on-access scanner on one of the servers is disabled, I did try to enable it but nothing heppend, when I go to the services I can see that all of the mcafee services are started and I can restart them all, but the on-access scanner is disabled.
Any idea why is this heppening to this server?
How do you know the on-access scanner is disbaled, what is it you're looking at?
Since you went to the services and saw that the services are running, whatever it is you're looking at (is it the vshield icon?) does not mean it's disabled.
If it is the vshield icon you're looking at, it means it's out of sync with the actual service - since you saw the service was running.
