Does your program have administrative or system rights?
Yeah the Netbackupclient service run as Local system account.
So thats probably why :)

Not sure why you want to stop A/V for backups. We run Netbackup on servers and simply trust the correct processes so the backup stream is not scanned.
On our former backup application (Arcserve) we did the same.
And for Netbackup... well we got recommended to shut down the A/V before backup starts.
And we ran multiple tests actually, and on our Fileservers who have lots of small files on them, we noticed a rather large performance difference.
Around 30-40 % slower with A/V on.
It might have something to do with the TIR feature in Netbackup.
As stated above.. this was on our Fileservers.. on the "normal" servers the performance difference wasnt so big.
