you can uninstall the agent using
C:\Program Files\McAfee\Common Framework\frminst.exe /forceuninstall
from the run command (make sure this is the correct patch to frminst obv)
If you reinstall VSE 8.5 OTT using the blank unaltered version from the zip with no agent already on then it will install its own integrated agent version and then you should be able to uninstall this again from add remove programs
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, the frminst /forceuninstall command does not work on this particular PC.
I don't know if I still have the unaltered zip version of VSE 8.5, but I'll look for it and try the re-install, but I suspect that since I can't remove the ePO agent, I'll still have the same problem.
I should have also said that I can't even stop the services, even though i have full administrative rights.
admin rights or logged on as local admin?
go into the access protection rules in the 8.5 VSE console and remove the block options on stopping/altering mcafee services also the tick box in bottom left of access protection rules then try this again.
Thanks Tony - once i disabled the access protection and removed the tick from the 'prevent services from being stopped' option, I was able to stop the services and then remove the agent using the frminst /forceuninstall command.
I then had no problem removing VSE 8.5
Thanks for your help on this.
