shstat.exe process utilizes 100% CPU when VSE 8.5 is upgraded to 8.7 P4

shstat.exe process spiked to 100% CPU and remained there after the upgrade of VSE 8.5 to 8.7 Patch 4 on some Windows Servers.

      Server spec: Windows 2003 R2 SP1 and SP2.

Spoke to McAfee Tier I Support and I was advised to reboot server. This is not feasible for upgrading 200 Windows Servers especially those running critical applications that require scheduled outage after hours. What's the impact of terminating shstat.exe when it hits 100% CPU?

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
