Access Protection seems to block ONLY these files

      Hi,

I am wondering why the Access Protection Log ONLY seems to block this below?
It only seems to enforce Microsoft Word and Excel documents but nothing else.

Can anyone find out why? Im using PATCH 4

2/4/2008 12:35:13 PM Would be blocked by Access Protection rule (rule is currently not enforced) C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\EXCEL.EXE \Registry\Machine\Software\Classes\.htm Anti-virus Maximum Protection:Prevent alteration of all file extension registrations Action blocked : Write

That option (Anti-virus Maximum Protection:Prevent alteration of all file extension registrations) is NOT CHECKED in our default settings..... therefore they are not detected. It's not a required option.. UNCHECKING the box in your "Access Protection" settings will also prevent it from being detected and/or blocked in the future.

As to WHY your's is dectecting only Excel and Word operations:

          1. You've got the settings in "Access Protection" to detect such things.

          2. No other programs are currently performing file extension changes in the registry.

          3. Apparently Excel and Word 2003 work you are doing is causing changes in the file extensions..or maybe it's part of the design of Office 2003. Just a guess but maybe you're viewing or saving such files that might have another default file extension.

Most importantly, what problem is this causing.?

          Hope this helps.
