    bo:heap on Excel Add-In

      Hi there,

      my company is testing an Excel Add-In by Microsoft (PerformancePoint Add-In).
      When I try to use it VirusScan Enterprise 8.0.0 shows

      Pahname: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\EXCEL.EXE::recv
      Detected As: no:heap
      State: Blocked by Buffer Overflow Protection

      What do you suggest ?

      Thanks Alex

          Tried adding it as an exclusion in the VirusScan Console/Buffer Overflow Protection section? (All the required information for the exclusion should be available in the "BufferOverflowProtection.log" or the "On Access Scanner" log.) Or set the "Buffer Overflow Protection" to "Warning Mode".

          Hope this helps.

            But is there any patch for 8.0 to fix this strange event ?

            I guss it is not a real buffer overflow but a "false positive".

            Thanks

              There are a number of patches for VS 8.0i.. You didn't mentioned which patch you have installed but Vs 8.0i is already at Patch #15.. Either #14 or #15 should fix and number of issues and that includes some of the Bo: Heap problems.. If you aren't patched to that version, you'll need your corporate grant number to log into the corporate portal at the link below, create a new user, and download the most recent patch:
