VirusScan 8.8 On Windows 2000--Lessons Learned and MUST DO Preprepwork

Want to start off by saying we had a good percentage of our W2K environment crash within a week of upgrading to VSE8.8.  The server reboots to a warning "Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:  \\winnt\system32\config\systemced". After spending time with support and internal KB searching we located KB71206. The short of the story is do not reboot your W2K servers during the window that you are performing ODS tasks and disable the 'Enable Saving Scan Data Across Reboots.'  We researched the SNS notices received and there was none on this item or topic.  I would strongly recommend disabling this feature in the Global Scan Settings section of the General Options Policy for VSE 8.8, as recommended as a work around in the KB, to ensure you are not plagued with this scenario.   We would hope something as serious as crashing your servers would have justified a communication to business and home users.
